CLAWAR - Climbing and Walking Robots, Brite-Euram Thematic Network

Aim of the network

The CLAWAR thematic network is proposed to bring together European centres of excellence which are engaged in research on climbing and/or walking robots and associated support technologies, such as gait control, sensors, actuators, data fusion, reliability and specific applications, including the construction, offshore and nuclear industries.

The entire field of robotics covers an enormous range of technologies and applicaitons and cannot easily form the basis for a coherent and focused thematic research network. The area of climbing and walking robots is, however, a sufficiently specific area. Here, much exciting and innovative work has been carried out over recent years.

CLAWAR aims to encompass Research Groups working in Robotics research and utilities which would benefit from access to the latest information regarding climbing/walking robots and to coordinate research efforts to maintain Europe`s lead in this area of technology.
